Illogical asked:

This is what i want to know.
-Who your candidate is?
-Why do you think they are better for the job
-Who wouldnt you pick

For instance (mines)
-Barrack Obama :)
-His political agenda is more in touch with the peoples needs and is also a big relief from Bush’s campiegn. He just seems more of a logical choice than others.
-I wouldnt pick Hillary Clinton because the main reason she is getting so much voters right now is the woman thing and that shouldnt be a factor since women will not get anything out of this because women are already equal to men so yeah plus shes only out for things that dont interest me.

so yeah tell me yours Opinions and views!

SmartAlex asked:

Why do we need political parties. Not every democrat subscribes to every democratic ideal. Not every republican subscribes to every republican ideal. Not every whig subscribed to every whig ideal. So why were parties invented? Could it have been just a means to unite differing factions? To create teams that were intended to compete? Were political parties invented to create conflict? Couldn’t we have candidates without political parties? Couldn’t we vote without political parties? Don’t political parties interfere with the American political process the way the framers envisioned them? Aren’t parties by definition generalizations? If they are, then shouldn’t you just avoid them? What political party was George Washington? They say Federalist, but wasn’t he against parties altogether?

Sorry a lot of questions but really, I’m wondering if the framers of the constitution envisioned parties, and if they did why, and if they did not, why were they formed, and how.
It started from the idea that there is strength in numbers. Birds of a feather flock together.

…the Founding Fathers failed to recognize that like-minded people organized into groups to air their views.

You see now that’s the problem. It would be great if that’s what has happened. But we are a two party country. Birds of a feather aren’t flocking together. Birds of all kinds of feathers are flocking into two large flocks. Other smaller flocks don’t stand a chance. So people compromise their issues just to align themselves with the democratic party or the republican party. Candidates of other parties rarely get a chance to really make a real campaign and those candidates run just so their voice will be heard. That’s not how the election system was supposed to work.

John asked:

With the 2008 Election quickly approaching, Barack Obama and John McCain spend a lot of time talking about “reaching out across the aisle” to people of different political points of view.

If you are a Democrat or a Republican, what would it theoretically take to get you to switch political parties and vote for the other candidate?

I’m curious to find out exactly what core issues drive someone to identify with one party over another…

abc asked:

I have not seen much come out of any political candidate. You can vote for your favorite candidate, but your life probably still remains same or worsens. Same holds if the opponent is elected. Then why follow politics as if its most important thing in the world?

Celeste C asked:

I just heard this question asked on a radio show and decided to ask it on Yahoo for both candidates.Be sure to write only things that he has ALREADY accomplished, as opposed to things he SAYS he is going to accomplish. Like, what has he done already to qualify him for the highest office in the land.

Martin L asked:

In other words, do you dislike any of the candidates in your party enough to vote for someone in the other party?

Assuming, of course, that you belong to one of the political parties (I don’t).

john_d_ayer asked:

I have four criteria for a Presidential Candidate aside from their political positions.

Public sector executive experience, private sector executive experience, being a veteran and the candidate cannot belong to a genocidal party like the Democrats or the NAZIs.

We all choose candidates based on our perception of their political positions, pro-life, pro-national security, anti-poverty, etc, etc.

I am pro-Choice and anti-abortion. I am pro-legalization, regulation and taxation of the recreational drug market. I am pro-2nd amendment. I am anti-Rico act. I want to see the slave trader removed from the $20 and replaced with MLK. I want to see prisons used only for repeat violent offenders. I want to see us stomp Iran into the ground for their actions in 1980 and their support of terrorism today. I want to see school vouchers and educational accountability including GED requirement for graduating High School. I believe the United States is founded on freedom of Religion and built with Christian principles.

There will never be a candidate who believes everything I believe in, so I choose the candidate I think can win that fits my criteria and shares some of my beliefs.

Do you have any other criteria you use to choose the candidate you are going to vote for.
Andrew “jacka*s” Jackson made his living as a slave trader from 1804 to 1813.

Jackson’s political symbol, the donkey, is still used by the Democratic party today.

You can read a biography of Jackson scanned by gutenberg.org at gutenberg.org.
I voted for Nader once. Since Clinton won in 1992 and went after gun owners to the point where McVeigh felt he had to blow up the Murrah building in Oklahoma City I tend to vote Republican, but, if I felt a third party candidate could win I would vote for them.

I don’t ever want to see Clinton’s government excesses or FDR’s fascism repeated.

People in N.H. and Iowa may not think or want the same things that other states do. Since the debates are televised nationally shouldn’t every state be allowed to hear what all the candidates think???

You can do all those things with very minimal goverment interference and low taxes.

America has just been brainwashed to believe that it needs to raise taxes to pay for more things.
You can lower taxes, and raise social spending, while balancing the budget, if you know what you are doing.

I am pro-choice for abortion and still believe in strong family values. those are my choices and beliefs.

glorymomof3 asked:

Every election there are those candidates who seem to thrive on using underhanded methods to defame the character of another candidate, just to make it appear as if they are the better pick for the people. Sometimes they say things that are the truth, while other times they do not.

A device they use are the ads we see on the tv’s, billboards or hear on the radio.

What effect, if any will these mean spirited ads affect your voting? In your opinion what will be the biggest factors surrounding your choice, lets say, for the Presidency?
